Pils or lagers are light, easy drinking, thirst quenching, and bottom fermented blond beers, named after the Czech city of Pilzen, where the first Pilsner was brewed. Belgian Pils or lagers have a distinct barley malt flavour and a crisp hoppy dryness, with alcohol strength between 4.5 and 5.5%.
